He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him. (Psalm 126:6)
There are seasons in life when the natural response to pain is to withdraw.
When disappointment comes, when prayers seem unanswered, when marriage becomes difficult, when finances are strained, when health is uncertain, when children are struggling, or when work becomes overwhelming, we may feel like shutting down.
Sometimes we want to cry alone. Sometimes we want to stay quiet. Sometimes we simply want the world to leave us alone until we feel strong again.
But Psalm 126:6 gives us another picture. It shows us someone who is weeping yet still carrying seed.
That is powerful.
The tears are real, but so is the seed.
The pain is real, but so is the assignment. The struggle is real, but so is the opportunity to bless someone else.
A Seed in Your Hand
Beloved sister, there may be moments when God allows someone to cross your path while you are still walking through your own difficult season.
It may be a woman whose marriage is struggling. A friend who has lost her job. A mother worried about her child. A sister dealing with illness. Someone silently carrying financial pressure, grief, loneliness, or fear.
And while you are still dealing with your own tears, God may place a seed in your hand for that person.
The seed may not be money. It may be encouragement. It may be prayer. It may be a phone call. It may be sitting beside someone and allowing her to cry.
It may be cooking a meal for a tired mother. It may be babysitting someone's children for a few hours. It may be running an errand for someone who is overwhelmed.
It may be sharing the Gospel and reminding another woman that there is still hope in Jesus Christ. It may simply be holding someone's hand and saying, "I am here."
Do not underestimate the seed God has placed in your hand.
Sowing While Weeping
Sometimes we think we must wait until our own lives are completely settled before we can be useful to anyone else. But Psalm 126:6 reminds us that sowing can happen while weeping.
You can still be a blessing while you are healing. You can still encourage someone while you are waiting for your own breakthrough. You can still pray for someone while you are asking God to answer your own prayers. You can still show kindness while your own heart is tender.
Your difficult season does not cancel your purpose.
In fact, sometimes the very thing you are walking through gives you a deeper compassion for someone else.
Your tears may help you recognize another woman's tears. Your pain may make you more sensitive to someone else's pain. Your journey may give you the words that another person desperately needs to hear.
Returning With Joy
And perhaps that is part of the beauty of the Scripture. You go out carrying seed through tears, but you do not return the same way.
You return with joy. You return carrying sheaves. You return carrying evidence that what was planted was not wasted.
So, beloved, do not allow your present season to convince you that you have nothing to give. You are still a channel of blessing. There are still seeds in your hands.
Get up from that place of discouragement. Carry your seed. Sow it generously.
Pray for someone. Encourage someone. Serve someone. Give where you can. Love intentionally. Stand in the gap. And trust God with the harvest.
The Lord who sees what is done in secret has not forgotten you.
Keep sowing. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep walking with Jesus.
God is faithful, and in His perfect time, He will bring forth the harvest of joy.
May we be women who shine together, rejoice together, support one another, and flourish together.
Let Us Pray
Lord, give us strength to keep sowing even when we cannot yet see the harvest. Give us faith to keep trusting You and grace to remain faithful in every season of our lives. Help us to recognize the seeds You have placed in our hands and the people You have placed along our path. Keep our eyes fixed on Jesus Christ and let our lives bring glory to You.
Amen.
